Community Franchising Insights - Does Size Matter?
In January-March 2011, the Cinnamon Network conducted research into Community Franchising. Several thousand Churches in the UK were contacted as well as franchisors/ees of 9 ‘ministries’. We had responses from 190 churches/ministries. Results are as follows for Full Franchises*:
Church Size

A surprise coming out of the research was that church size does not seem to matter. One would have assumed that franchises would predominantly be run by large churches. The chart above shows that churches of all sizes take on franchises.
One reason for this might be that many franchises (43%) are run by churches partnering together in an area.
This obviously helps with finding funding, volunteers with right skills, premises, etc. Isolating churches in the survey who are running a Full Franchise on their own, there appears to be a marked reduction in smaller churches but they are still represented:

*The Full Franchises reported on were; Christians Against Poverty, Street Pastors, Black Boys Can, Care Confidential, The Lighthouse Group, Romance Academy and Trussell Trust Foodbanks.
